Year 4 home learning 12.10.20

Good Morning Year 4 I hope you are all doing well. Here is the Home learning for this week if you are unable to come to school. English: Watch the video of the story and work your through these learning tasks. Click on the pictures for a clearer view.  Task 1: Make inferences What can the children see hear and smell? How do the feel. Task 2: Use your senses and feeling words to complete this task                   Task 3: Character description Write 5 sentences describing Abdul Kazam using adjectives, verbs, adverbs and similes. Class 3 Home learning w/b 5/10/20

Hi Class 3 I hope you are doing well. Here is some home learning for those of you who cannot come to school this week. There’s a link to our new story book this week and some work to do with it. There’s some spelling to practise and some reading comprehension to do I have included some maths  and science too. Looking forward to seeing to back at school soon! Ms Boote   English This is our new story this week: Leon and the Place Between Before reading the story can you look at the front cover and think about the questions.   Now look at the story below   There are lots of interesting verbs in the story which help to describe the actions happening inside the show tent. Check with an adult if you’re not sure what some of them mean.     Now choose some of the more interesting verbs and put them in your own sentences. They could be about Leon and the Place Between or completely your own ideas. Character description   Maths We are continuing to learn about place value and looking at hundreds, tens and ones. Design your own meal with some different nutrients- label your foods and the main nutrient they contain. design a meal   Exoskeletons We are also learning about the human skeleton- see the activity from last week’s blog. Home Learning Class 3- w/b 28th September

      English Activity 1 Activity 2   Activity 3 Activity 4 Maths This week we will continue to focus on place value (the value of each digit in a number). You will be learning about 100s, 10s and 1s and finding numbers on a number line. Have  a go at writing your own version of the story opening in ‘ The Frog prince continued’. Character description Use adjectives, adverbs and similes to describe the witch’s: -appearance (what does she look like?) -actions (what is she doing?) -personality(what is she like as a person?) Record your ideas on a mindmap like this:               2) Now put your ideas into 6 amazing sentences   Science: Click on the BBC links below to start learning about our digestive system then complete the quizzes. Mouth – Stomach – Intestines – Now, write a story explaining what happens to a piece of food after it has gone into our mouth. OR Explain what happens to food in your own words. Home Learning Year 3- 23rd to 25th September

  Hi Class 3,   I hope you are all well As all of our class have to stay at home- this week and next-  I will be uploading lots of home learning activities for you to do. There will be some English/reading, maths, science, French and spelling tasks to do.  I will put new ones up next Monday. Please give them a try and do your best! You just need a pen/pencil and some paper to record your answers on. For some activities you just need to do some good listening and speaking! Also you should have received your school login user name and password which allows you to access our learning platform via LGFL (London grid for learning)- there are science, maths and computing activities to do on there. Don’t forget to have that Mr Bounce attitude! Missing you and see you all soon Ms Boote English: This week we have been reading a version of the well-known fairy tale ‘The Frog prince’. Please listen to  the story below and then have a go at answering some of the questions. The Frog Prince- sorry the previous link to the book was removed. This one should work Punctuation: The part of the story below has no punctuation! Can you re write it using capital letters and full stops (there is more than one sentence). Remember proper nouns such as names also need a capital letter! Challenge- where do you think some inverted commas (speech marks ” “) could go? Remember to use a comma if there is a list of adjectives or nouns. Grammar: We are learning to create expanded noun phrases by using adjectives to describe the nouns. You can practise by writing some sentences with them. Can you put more than one in a single sentence? Add some adjectives and interesting verbs.   French We are starting to learn some common greetings in French and how to count. Watch this clip and join in:

Hi Year 4 I will be putting work on this blog each week for any children who are unable to come into school at the moment. English: We are learning to make inferences What is  your first impression of this picture? What can you see? What questions do you have about the picture? ( use the 5W’s to help) Does it remind you of anything? Who do you think the characters are and why? Where are they? How do you know? Why are they not looking at each other? How would you describe each of the characters?   We are learning to use noun phrases and prepositions to describe settings and characters           Challenge: Write 3 sentences using prepositions             We are learning to use direct speech  Watch the first 2 minutes of the video of the Frog Prince Continued. Choose a part of the story  and write a conversation the two characters would have had using speech marks and synonym for said.
