Year 6 English

23rd November 2017

This week in English, Year 6 have been learning to write a detailed set of instructions of how to make a transformation potion. We have been learning to extend sentences using time connectives, use interesting imperative verbs and adverbs and add extra detail. We have been linking our ideas to The Adventures of Odysseus, because we just read that the witch, Circe, has turned all of Odysseus’s men into pigs while sharing a feast with them. We are determined to create a potion to turn them back into men so they may continue their journey back to the rocky island…

Children in Need day!

17th November 2017

Today Normand Croft held stalls in the playground to raise money for Children in Need. There was a wonderful spirit in the school with many children wearing their spotty clothing, face paint and purchasing cakes, books and toys to give money to an important cause. Thank you to those people who donated items to sell and who participated in the activities while thinking of those children who need our support.

Anti-bullying week

17th November 2017

In year 6, we were learning about how bullies behave to show their power over other people. Mouldy Old Dough

3rd November 2017

Before the half term, Class 6 did an investigation to find out which bread would grow the most mould and to make it a fair test we had to put them in bags and in different place around the school. We chose a cold place, a warm place and a hot place. We discovered that over 15 days the freezer bread had no mould growing, the warm bread had some green mould on the corners and the hot bread had the most mould which was all over the bread in green, orange, black and yellow. It was gross but interesting!
