This week in English, Year 6 have been learning to write a detailed set of instructions of how to make a transformation potion. We have been learning to extend sentences using time connectives, use interesting imperative verbs and adverbs and add extra detail. We have been linking our ideas to The Adventures of Odysseus, because we just read that the witch, Circe, has turned all of Odysseus’s men into pigs while sharing a feast with them. We are determined to create a potion to turn them back into men so they may continue their journey back to the rocky island…

There was a wonderful spirit in the school with many children wearing their spotty clothing, face paint and purchasing cakes, books and toys to give money to an important cause. Thank you to those people who donated items to sell and who participated in the activities while thinking of those children who need our support.

We learned that often the bullies act in a negative way because they have been bullied before or are suffering from something sad at home. It doesn’t make it ok to bully other people but we can try to help them by telling them that bullying other people is not going to help them to change their sadness. If they surround themselves with happiness, they can learn to be happy too and make friends in a kind way. Then those friends can make…

Click here to Read MoreOn Friday 10th November, a group of Year 5 and 6 children represented Normand Croft in the Mayor’s Cup football competition. Although the teams did not win, Miss Balmer was so impressed by the teams’ improvement and positive attitude towards the game. This week, both teams demonstrated better passing and tackling and goal keepers Marjym, Reem and Basma successfully saved a number of goals. The team demonstrated a good team spirit, resilience and a positive attitude!

Click here to Read MoreBefore the half term, Class 6 did an investigation to find out which bread would grow the most mould and to make it a fair test we had to put them in bags and in different place around the school. We chose a cold place, a warm place and a hot place. We discovered that over 15 days the freezer bread had no mould growing, the warm bread had some green mould on the corners and the hot bread had the most mould which was all over the bread in green, orange, black and yellow. It was gross but interesting!
Click here to Read MoreOn the 23rd of May 2017, Normand Croft Community School took part in an international food party where people were having the time of their lives whilst sharing food and sharing smiles. ” The food was delectable. Every bite filled my mouth with an exotic taste which brought joy to my day,”said Melisa from year 6. We all hope that we have opportunities like this in the future to come together as one big family.
