Greek drama in Class 5

15th November 2017

This week, Class 5 have been reading ‘The Adventures of Odysseus’ in their English lessons. They used the story to create a drama performance. In the scene the children performed, Odysseus has been asked to go to war to fight on behalf of King Menelaus. His son, Telemachus, has just been born and he does not want to go and fight. His wife, Penelope, tells the visiting lieutenant that Odysseus is mad! However, the lieutenant is highly suspicious of cunning Odysseus and manages to outwit him so he does in fact have to go to war. Here are some photos…

Mayor’s Cup

10th November 2017

On Friday 10th November, a group of Year 5 and 6 children represented Normand Croft in the Mayor’s Cup football competition. Although the teams did not win, Miss Balmer was so impressed by the teams’ improvement and positive attitude towards the game. This week, both teams demonstrated better passing and tackling and goal keepers Marjym, Reem and Basma successfully saved a number of goals. The team demonstrated a good team spirit, resilience and a positive attitude!

Ancient Greek Gods and Goddesses

9th November 2017

This week, Class 5 have become experts on the interesting topic of Ancient Greek gods and goddesses. We have used our Computing and English lessons to research a god or goddess of our choice. Did you know? Zeus, who was the King of gods, controlled thunder and lightning. Poseidon, who was Zeus’s brother, lived in a beautiful palace under the sea. Ares, who was the son of Zeus, was the god of war Ask children in Class 5 for more information about the Greek gods and goddesses.

Sports Hall Athletics

8th November 2017

On Thursday 9th November Year 6 and some Year 5 children will be representing Normand Croft at the Sports Hall Athletics competition at Burlington Danes Academy. Good luck to all children competing!
