Year 4 Science Day with a Royal twist!

11th May 2018

Class 4 considered what would make the perfect cup of tea for the Duchess of Cambridge and decided that two important criteria were making sure the tea was just the right temperature and had brewed long enough so it wasn’t too weak. We agreed that it shouldn’t go cold while the tea was brewing and decided to investigate the following question: Which material will keep the tea hottest over time? We sorted different materials and each group decided on a different set of three materials to test out. To ensure it was a fair test, we only changed the material…

14th November 2017

Last week, Class 4 enjoyed starting our new book, Zeraffa Giraffa, the amazing true story of a giraffe taken as a present from the Pasha of Egypt to the King of France in the 1800s. We debated whether the giraffe should have been taken at all. Some people argued that it was wrong because she would miss her natural habitat, while others believed she should go because there would be fewer predators in France. Moreover, she would be well looked after by the King of France. We also used atlases to learn more about Egypt and the River Nile. We investigated…

Travel Back in Time with C3 and C4

3rd November 2017

Classes 3 and 4 went back 5000 years to the time of Egyptian pharaohs and mummies. We started the day as archaeologists, looking carefully at artefacts and considering what each one told us about Ancient Egypt. We met the goddess Isis, who told us the story of how her husband Osiris became the God of the Underworld. We also mummified a dead pharaoh (a stuffed crocodile!), decorated Pharaohs’ headdresses to wear, learnt how to draw hieroglyphics in the playground and danced like Egyptians!
