Year 4’s Victorian Building hunt

16th November 2018

In Year 4 this week, we used our Geography skills to compare a map of our local area from Victorian times and a modern map. We then mapped out a route we could take in order to see some of Victorian building that are still standing today. We were able to spot Victorian buildings by looking out for chimneys, Sash windows, Bay windows and a specific type brickwork, typical of the Victorian era. Some building even had dates written on them which made it particularly easy for us to know whether it existed in Victorian times or not.

Our learning this week

13th September 2018

English This week Year 4 have been reading The Frog Price which is about a very spoilt Princess.  We enjoyed using drama to bring the story to life and practised retelling it using expression. We then wrote the story in our own words using fronted adverbials to start sentences and adventurous vocabulary to paint picture in readers minds. Science In science, we have been learning about the four different types of teeth that humans have, and how and why we should keep our teeth healthy. Next week, we will be learning about the rest of our digestive system.
