Measurement and Data

1st December 2017

During maths lessons this week, Class 2 have been busy learning how to estimate and measure length using metres and centimetres.  Some children carried out an investigation to find out if the tallest children had the longest arms and feet. They had lots of fun using the tape measures to find out.       Class 2 have also been exploring different ways to collect and record data. We went to Lillie Road to see how many different types of vehicles passed by our school. We recorded the data in a tally chart and later we put our results into a bar graph.

RE Day visit from United Sikhs

2nd November 2017

Class One children learnt about the 5 Ks that Sikhs believe in.  The children have been making kangas (one of the 5 Ks).  A kanga is a special comb that Sikhs use to keep their hair tidy and they carry it with them at all times.   As part of their RE day, Class 2 enjoyed a visit from two members of ‘United Sikhs’ who came to talk to the children about their religion Sikhism. The children found out lots of interesting things about the religion’s core beliefs and ways of life. The children were also able to make some comparisons with other religions including their own.
