Hello Class 5,
We have reached the final week of the school year. As you now know, I am leaving Normand Croft this summer and although we haven’t had an opportunity to say goodbye before the holidays, I will be back to visit in September. I have loved every second being your teacher and have had the most fun EVER! I will keep the memories of class 5 with me always and know that each and every one of you has a bright and beautiful future ahead of you. Here are your home learning tasks for the week ahead:
English and Foundation Subjects
Each day, the BBC Bitesize website releases online learning lessons – an English lesson, a maths lesson and another lesson that focuses on other subjects such as science, geography, history, computing and music. Each day, I would like you to complete the English lesson and the other subject lesson. You could also complete the maths lesson but I would like you to access the White Rose maths online learning resources too (see below for information).
As well as completing the English lesson, here are your spellings for this next week. They all contain double consonants:
Learn each word and complete some of these word study activities:
- spelling pyramids
- spelling scribbles
- create a word search for a family member to complete
- look up each word in the dictionary (you can use an online dictionary) and record the definition
- write a sentence that uses the word
- get a family member to quiz you
White Rose will be releasing a daily home learning video for you to watch. Click here to view the videos and make sure you do with a pen and paper as there will be pause points and questions for you to answer which you may want to do working out for. We are working through week 12 lessons. Once you have watched the video, complete the matching worksheet:
For more maths brain training, head on over to BBC Bitesize and take part in the daily maths lesson there. Don’t forget, you’ve also got Times Tables Rockstars which will keep those multiplication and division facts secured.
This week, create a page for a class 5 year book. Include drawings, word art, doodles and information about your time in class 5 for the following headings:
- favourite subject
- greatest achievement
- favourite trip
- best lesson
- funniest moment
- goal for next year
- what you would do differently
Make it as colourful and creative as you can – really express who you are through your artwork and writing.
Take a look at this video of CBBC stars performing a range of different poems. Research a poem you like and challenge yourself to learn it off by heart. Maybe you could perform a poetry slam against your siblings and compete for most entertaining poetry performance?
I’ll be calling you all again this week and will look forward to wishing you a wonderful summer break then!
